Chartrange recognises the requirements to conduct the business in such a way to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that employees and others who may be affected by our operations are not exposed to risk to their health and safety. Health and Safety is a core value in our business, as a minimum we will strive to fulfil both the spirit and letter of the law but in addition take a proactive approach to achieve continual improvements on performance.
We believe all injuries are preventable and we are committed to sending everyone home in the same condition as when they arrived at work.
We believe that achieving high standards of health and safety contributes to business performance and that the way we manage health and quality of service go together.
To achieve our health and safety objectives we will:
- Provide adequate resource to successfully manage health and safety at work.
- Promote joint consultation and co-operation on matters concerning health, safety and welfare to ensure opportunities for effective participation by all employees, their representatives and contractors.
- Promote the development of as positive health and safety culture based on fairness, trust and co-operation where all accidents and incidents are reported and we learn from our mistakes to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that the level of risk from significant work related driving hazards is assessed and, so far as a reasonably practicable. Eliminated or adequately controlled.
- Provide appropriate instruction training, retraining and supervision in health and safety to maintain the competence levels of all employees.
- Provide employees with safe plant and equipment along with safe systems of work.
- Ensure that all employees are aware of and carry out their health & safety roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure effective communication of health and safety information .
- Continually monitor health and safety performance to ensure the implementation and adequacy of this policy including the public reporting of our compliance and performance annually.
- Ensure contractors meet company’s health and safety standards.
- Commitment ot introducing of OHSAS 18001 as a system for management of health and safety matter .
The overall responsibility for health and safety management throughout the company is vested with the managing Director who will ensure the policy is implemented. The board will receive regular performance reports and policy will be reviewed by the board of directors at regular intervals. Nicola Parson is our internal Health & Safety Specialist.
